Person Centred Training Solutions

Person Centred Training Solutions - PCTS - is a training company that holds at the centre of all we do, that when we get training right it can change lives.

Holding the 'person' at the heart of what we do we know that good training that recognises the individuality of the learner, their learning style, their role and especially the individuality of the people they support ensures that learning can translate to practice and can and does affect positive change.

PCTS has a team of trainers with more than 100 years of practice-based experience across a range of subjects and all our training is underpinned by the principles of Person-Centredness.

With shared values and a desire to deliver affordable quality training tailored to the needs of services, staff and those receiving support we aim to offer the best value, bespoke training packages with a range of support tools and resources tailored to your needs.

PCTS provides training on a national basis covering Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland

PCTS offers a mixture of courses which can be accessed in different ways. During the height of the Covid-19 epidemic PCTS offered courses on-line and will continue to offer this option for those who prefer it.

Most training, however, is delivered face to face and we intend to continue this as our primary method of delivery.

Individuals can attend courses run by PCTS at our training rooms, or we can provide them for organisations at venues suitable to them. We have a series of tailor-made courses which can be accessed by individuals or groups, or we can provide bespoke programmes that address specific organisational needs.

This year we have also designed ½ day workshops exploring specific issues relating to work-place situations. We have long recognised that full day courses are not always suitable for everyone and so have now offered this additional way to access training.

Alan Fazakerley Portrait

Alan Fazakerley

Alan has been working with people who have a learning disability since 1989 firstly for Avon County Council Social Services and then South Gloucestershire Council Social Services - holding variety of substantive positions within Day Centre Services over an eight-year period including managing a Resource and Activity Centre.

Since 1991 Alan has specialised in supporting people with learning difficulties and learning disabilities around social and sexual issues - firstly as part of a Social Services programme and then, since 1996, as an independent service.

Alan felt there was, and still is, a huge gap in service provision for direct support and education around social and sexual issues for people who have a learning disability/difficulty - and especially that of working with men who exhibit unsafe and abusive sexual behaviour - and that this can lead to people with a learning disability being unsafe when wanting to express their sexual needs and engage in the relationships of their choice.

Alan's work involves providing 1:1 programmes of direct support and education for individuals and also offering support, training and consultation to parents and carers and agencies including Local Authorities, NHS, charities, schools, colleges, care organisations and secure services.

Alan has also worked in Local Authority Youth Services as a Youth Worker and Youth Club Leader.

Qualifications

Alan holds a Cert. Ed. In Adult Education and Training, a Diploma in Health and Social Welfare, a Diploma in Independent Advocacy and is a qualified NVQ assessor. He has also completed a variety of other courses specific to the work he undertakes including University Certificates in:

Alan has also attended other courses and training, specific to people who have a learning disability, concerning abuse (working with both perpetrator and victim), sexual health, gender issues and communication.

Alan is a member of The Association of Teachers & Lecturers and has worked as an Associate trainer for BILD and Anne Craft Trust.
